Ashey Munn Photography - Waco, TX - New Site Now Live!

Ashley Munn of Ashley Munn Photography is a photographer in the Waco, Temple TX area.  She specializes in Wedding, Newborn, Engagement, Senior, Baby and Family Pictures.  She came to Picture This SEO with one goal and that was to get more traffic to her website.  You see, Ashley, like many photographers, had a website built entirely in flash.  She used one of those companies that you simply pay a small monthly fee to in order to have a nice looking website.  The problem is, those companies only goal is to provide you with a fancy, beautiful website.  They don't focus on actually giving you a website that will show up in the search engines.  That's where we came in.  We designed Ashley Munn a website built entirely in HTML and CSS.  It's been fully optimized to show up in search engines and she's already seeing a huge increase in traffic to her website.  We never asked that Ashley get rid of her flash site, nor do we think she should.  We simply created her a flash page, allowing her customers to decide which site they wanted to visit.

We encourage you to check out Ashley Munn Photography's website at www.ashleymunnphotography.com

Week 3 - Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Tip

Title Tags.  Don't know what that is?  Look at the very top of your screen and you'll see the words "SEO for Photographers|Tips and Techniques|Search Engine Optimization Tips & Techniques|SEO".  It's not at the top of my Blog, it's not in the address bar, it's all the way at the top of the screen.

Title tags are one of the most important things to remember when talking about SEO.  The title tag for each page should be unique and keyword focused.  It should sum up, in about 80-100 characters, what that particular page is about.  The secret is to write it using only keywords.  You don't need it to be a complete sentence, you don't want to waste space with words like "and", "or", "the", etc.  Fill the title tag with keywords like "wedding pictures, senior portriats, etc".  Also, if you absolutely MUST have your name or company name in the title tag, put it at the end.  If someone types in the name of your business, they are going to find you.  Especially if your web address is the name of your business.

Week 2 - Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Tip

So you've got a Google local listing but you don't see much traffic to it. This is a very common problem for businesses, regardless of what they do. One of the best ways to get your Google Local Listing to show up on Google Maps is simple. Reviews, reviews, reviews.

You can easily see what I mean. Go to Google, search anything that might bring up the local listings and when the Google map comes up, click on the little "reviews" link under the businesses name. Google will highlight all of the words in their reviews that match what you searched. If you go through that list, you'll often find that the company that showed up on top, the "A" spot, has more reviews for the service you searched than anyone below them. There are other factors that help determine how they are ranked on the map, but reviews is one of the biggest.

So here's my SEO tip for week 2. Have your customers write you reviews. If you know them well enough to be upfront with them, ask them to include keywords like "wedding photographer", "senior pictures in (city, state)", "family portraits", etc. Whatever you think people are searching for in your area is what you should think about with the reviews. Don't have one review that covers everything or it will be obvious to your customers that it's a bogus review. Have one for each type of service.

It won't take very long before you start seeing more traffic to your local listing!

Daisy Mae Photography - New Site Now Live!

Meagan Sparks of Daisy Mae Photography came to me with a problem that is far too common for photographers; and that's the fact that she couldn't get her site to show up in search.  It turns out that Meagan's website was made entirely in Flash.  While the site was very impressive and looked great, it did very little for her Google-Cred, leaving her site floating around page 3.  Have you ever had this problem?  If so, you need to Contact Picture This SEO.  How many customers are you losing to those on page 1?

The solution;  Picture This SEO redesigned the Daisy Mae Photography website and built it entirely in HTML and CSS!  She's already seeing huge jumps to page one and the traffic on her site has skyrocketed!

To check out her new site, visit Daisy Mae Photography here!  Or Check out the Daisy Mae Photography Flash site here!

Week 1 - Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Tip

Link your blogs! I've seen so many photography blogs that don't have links in every single posting. This not only makes it harder for readers to get back to your website, but it's also less search engine friendly. If your post is about a wedding shoot, link it back to your wedding gallery. If it's about a senior session, link it to your seniors gallery. It's not only easier for your readers, but it'll give you "Google-Cred".

There are over 100 factors that go into Googles decision on where to rank you.  One of the major ones is links back to your website from quality places.  If Google gets to your blog and can follow it back to your website, to a page that ties in with the information on the site it came from, then it'll give that link higher relevance.  Over time, as Google finds more and more of these, always relevant, it'll start not only seeing your blog as a great resource for people searching for photographers, but it'll also learn that your website itself is just as relevant.  This will help make BOTH of your sites show up better, eliminating some of the competition from being on page 1.

Michele Graves Photography - New Site now Live!

Picture This SEO came across Photographer, Michele Graves, after reading a blogpost she made regarding her difficulties with Search Engine Optimization.  After speaking with her and reviewing her current site, we found the problem.  Michele, as with many photographers, had a beautiful site made entirely in Flash.

Flash websites are great for showing your work and are full of little features to really make cool little transitions.  The problem is, Search Engines can't see flash!  To Google and the rest of the search engines, your page has no content.  This makes getting your website to page one  extremely difficult.

The Solution?  Picture This SEO provided Michele Graves Photography with a complete SEO overhaul. We optimized her current Flash site as best it could be and we mirrored that site with one built entirely in HTML and CSS!

The result was a beautiful website that now shows up on page one of the Search Engines.  Within the first couple weeks her website traffic has already doubled!

Can you afford to lose customers because you only have a flash website?
